Sponsorship revenue is inventory math: how many slots you have, what each sells for and how many actually sell. Operators often quote the full inventory value as if every slot will fill, then miss their number by half.

This planner multiplies sends by slots per send to get monthly inventory, applies your sell-through rate to get revenue you can count on, and shows what unsold slots are costing you. The 12 month figure compounds your monthly list growth and assumes your price scales with list size, which is a simplification you should check against your own history.

How to use this tool

  1. Enter your sends per month and how many paid slots each issue carries.
  2. Set your average slot price, an honest sell-through rate and your monthly list growth.
  3. Compare expected revenue to the unsold value to see whether filling slots or raising prices moves the number more.

What the math assumes

  • Every slot is priced at the same blended average; mix in your actual placement prices before quoting.
  • Sell-through is applied evenly across the month; it does not model seasonality or a slow month.
  • The 12 month projection assumes price per slot grows at the same rate as your list, compounding monthly, and that sell-through stays constant.
  • Unsold inventory is valued at full price with no discounting.
  • Revenue is gross; agency fees, payment processing and taxes are not deducted.

Frequently asked questions

What sell-through rate should I plan with?

Use your own last three months if you have them. If you are just starting, plan low and treat anything above your estimate as upside rather than budgeting for a full house.

Why does the annual number grow when my price stays the same?

The planner assumes your slot price scales with your list. If you do not plan to raise prices as you grow, set monthly growth to zero for a flat projection.

Does this include discounts for multi-issue packages?

No. Enter the blended average price you actually collect per slot after package discounts, and the estimate will reflect it.
